Season 5 However, as Season 5 begins Spike is still trying to get the chip out, no matter what. Harmony takes him back after she tries and fails to kill Buffy. Buffy goes to Spike when she needs help. Riley, her boyfriend, has gone missing and is in desperate need of a heart operation. She offers Spike money to find him and bring him to the hospital. Spike uses this situation to his advantage. He and Harmony hold Riley's doctor hostage and force him to remove the chip even though he says it can't be done. The doctor says he has done it when Buffy and Riley arrive. Spike tries to kill Buffy but is hit with the intense pain. The doctor hadn't removed the chip at all. Spike and Harmony flee while Buffy and the doctor tend to Riley. The episode ends with Buffy storming into Spike's crypt, telling him that he's a killer and that she should have staked him ages ago. Spike takes off his shirt and tell her to do it, he can't stand being around her anymore. When she falters he grabs her and kisses her.
She kisses him back, panting that she wants him. He responds by declaring his love for her. Suddenly Spike sits up in bed, a look of horror on his face. It was just a dream but now he has feelings for Buffy. The following couple of episodes see Spike hanging around Buffy's house. He still acts the same around her, cocky and arrogant. She is oblivious to his newly discovered feelings. In the episode Family he saves her from a demon but she doesn't see. When Buffy is wounded by a vampire she forces Spike to tell her how he killed the other 2 Slayers. After a long and painful story he tries to kiss her but she pushes him to the ground saying that he is beneath her. Hurt beyond belief Spike decides to kill her, not caring how much pain the chip will give him. He picks up a shotgun and heads for her house. He arrives only to be met by a weeping Buffy who has just found out that her mother may have a brain tumour. Seeing her tears, Spike realises he can't kill her and instead does his best to comfort her.
He is back to stalking her in the next episode, sneaking into her house, sniffing her clothes and even stealing a pair of her panties. Riley catches him and begins to suspect that Spike has feelings for Buffy. Riley and Spike have a confrontation in the episode Into The Woods. Spike sees Riley letting vampires bite him and tells Buffy. Riley visits Spike and stakes him with a plastic stake, warning him to stay away from her. Spike admits that he has feelings for Buffy and says that although he doesn't think he has a chance with her he's still going to try.
Riley leaves at the end of the episode, meaning that Spike's feelings are still a secret...for now. The next episode shows Spike clearly worried about what Buffy thinks of him. In a funny but touching scene he tries to explain his actions to a mannequin dressed up as Buffy, with a box of chocolates as a gift. He gets frustrated and beats the doll a little before collecting himself and having another practise. He runs into Xander in The Bronze and vaguely asks her if Buffy is holding any grudges. Xander doesn't know what he's talking about. At that point a troll enters, ending the conversation. Shortly after that Buffy arrives and Spike's attention shifts from the troll to her. She barely looks at him. Buffy tries to fight the troll but ends up being thrown on top of Spike. As she tries to get up he manages to cop a feel. Buffy fights the troll but the end result is a section of the roof collapsing. Buffy, Spike and Tara tend to the injured. When Buffy sees Spike helping she asks him what he's doing. He says he's helping, not feeding even though there's a lot of blood around. Buffy is shocked that he wants credit for not feeding from injured people and says that he's disgusting. When she's gone Spike wonders aloud what it's going to take to win her over.
Spike has clearly reverted back to his old ways by the next episode. He saves Buffy from a vampire and makes some cutting remarks about her taste in men before walking off, leaving her as stunned as he was last week. Revenge is clearly sweet. Spike flirts with a female member of the Watcher's Council and tries to get information out of her on how Buffy is doing in her tests. We finally see a moment of trust between Buffy and Spike when she asks him to protect her family from Glory. When she tells him that he's the only one strong enough to protect them is is clear that he can't refuse her. Could this moment of trust develop into something more? Spike and Joyce bond over Passions.
It's Buffy's birthday and Spike is lurking outside her house armed with the box of chocolates he attacked the mannequin with a couple of weeks previously. He is caught by Dawn who makes a joke of it but agrees to help her break into the magic shop and steal things. Dawn finds out that she is the key to a demon dimension and Spike is just a surprised as she is. A stunned Dawn heads back home as does Spike. Buffy discovers that Spike was the one who helped Dawn find out what she is. Furious she goes to his crypt where he is sat painting his nails. She beats him up, asking him if he hates her that much as to ruin Dawn's life to get at her. This hurts Spike and he decides its time for a few home truths. He tells her that the reason she's with him is that she feels guilty for not telling Dawn herself. Hurt, but knowing it's true, Buffy leaves. After Dawn runs away Buffy gathers the gang to find her. Pairing everyone up, Buffy chooses Spike and they begin to search for her. Buffy tells Spike that he was right, she should have told Dawn herself. Spike tries to comfort her and says she'll find her. The gang arrive at the hospital just as Glory is about to attack Dawn. Buffy and Spike attack her and Glory knocks Spike out.
She assumes that Spike is Buffy's boyfriend which makes Buffy furious. Telling Glory that he isn't she attacks once more. Glory is finally transported from the hospital by one of Willow's spells and the gang leave. Crush finally sees everything out in the open and unfortunately it doesn't go well for Spike. He tries to strike up a conversation with Buffy in the Bronze, saying that he helped her fight Glory and that she could at least try and be civil. She reminds him that Glory knocked him out and turns her attention first to Xander and then to Ben. Spike doesn't look impressed. Buffy complains to Dawn that her sweater has gone missing, accusing her of borrowing it. In the next scene we see Spike holding the said sweater with Harmony trying to coax him into bed. She suggests a 'game' which results in her wearing the sweater, brandishing a stake and threatening to slay him. Dawn goes to visit Spike saying that she feels safe with him and that he's strong enough to protect her. Spike tries to get her to leave until she mentions Buffy, he lets her stay. Buffy finds out Dawn is missing and goes to look for her. Meanwhile Spike is telling Dawn a story about a group of people he killed, she is fascinated. Just as the story is coming to an end Buffy arrives. Not wanted to be seen telling Buffy's little sister horror stories he gives it a nice ending which Dawn is less than impressed with. As Buffy and Dawn walk home Buffy tries to tell her that hanging with Spike is a bad thing. Dawn says she likes him and that she feels safe with him, plus he treats her like a person even though he knows she's the key. Buffy accuses her of having a crush on him and Dawn says that even if she did it wouldn't matter because Spike is obviously in love with her. Buffy is stunned. After investigating a series of murders on a train Buffy arrives home to find Spike making pleasantries with her mother. He came to apologise about Dawn and to tell her that he knows who did the train killings. Buffy is a little uncomfortable around him, especially when he offers to show her where they are. The lead turns out to be bogus and Buffy accuses him of setting it up as a sort of date. Spike asks her if she wants it to be a date. He tells her that he's changed and that its been for her. Buffy is repulsed. Spike tries to tell her that he loves her but she leaves. Spike is dejected and goes home...to find Drusilla waiting for him. She's the train killer. Dru wants Spike to come back to LA with him but he refuses, Dru says she knows about the chip and that he's still a killer even if he can't hurt people. Harmony arrives and Spike dumps her, implying that he's returning to his old ways. Dru is delighted. They dance in the Bronze and Dru breaks the neck of a girl, giving her body to Spike. After hesitating for a moment he feeds. Joyce and Willow are worried that Spike will become dangerous and tell Buffy that she has to make it clear to him that she's not interested. She asks Willow to do her a favour while she's gone Buffy goes to Spike's and find a shrine he has built to her, filled with pictures and things he has stolen from her house. She is freaked, even more so when she sees Spike with blood on his face. Dru knocks her out with a cattle prod and asks Spike if they're going to torture her first. Spike responds by knocking Dru out as well. When Buffy wakes up she finds herself and Dru tied up. Spike tells Buffy that he loves her and offers to kill Dru to prove it. Buffy tells Spike to do it, but it won't prove a thing, she's disgusted by him.
Spike says that if Buffy doesn't admit that she feels even the smallest thing for him that he'll free Dru and let her kill her. Buffy tells him the only chance he had with her was while she was unconscious. Spike tells Dru its all her fault for leaving him in the first place and says he might just kill them both. At this point Harmony shoots him in the back with a crossbow. As Spike and Harmony fight Dru frees herself and attacks Buffy who is still tied up. Spike overpowers Harmony and pulls Dru off Buffy. Dru says she can't help him now and leaves, shortly followed by Harmony who says he'll never see her again. Buffy punches Spike and he falls into the Buffy Shrine. As they walk back to Buffy's house Spike tries once more to tell her that there is something between them. She tells him to leave town, she never wants to see him again. Spike says she can't shut him out of her life and tries to follow her into the house. He is repelled. Willow has de-invited him. Spike looks hurt as Buffy shuts the door in his face. Just when it seems that things can't get much worse for Spike it does. He runs into Buffy in the Bronze and he tries to trade jabs with her. She tells him to leave town and he says that the only way he's going to leave is if she physically makes him.
He then watches as Buffy and Ben talk and Ben gives Buffy his number. Filled with jealousy he attempts to flirt with a girl. April, however, is a robot and when Spike propositions her she responds by throwing him through a window which amuses Buffy no end. The next day Spike goes to the Magic Shop and tries to make casual chat with the Gang. Giles tells him to leave, they are not the way to Buffy and there is no way to Buffy. Willow says they're working on a spell to de-invite him from the shop and even Dawn tells him to stay away from her. Giles tells Spike to get over his thing for Buffy and Spike leaves. Spike loads all the items from his Buffy shrine into a box and finds the man who built April. Handing him the box he says he's putting in an order... After planning Joyce's funeral, Xander and Willow bump into Spike who is armed with a bunch of flowers. Xander quickly assumes the worst and yells at Spike for coming onto Buffy at a bad time. Spike says the flowers were for Joyce, and he was just planning on leaving them on the doorstep. Xander doesn't believe him and Spike snaps saying that Joyce was the only one of them he could stand, and she was the only one who didn't treat him like a freak. Xander still doesn't back down and Spike throws the flowers to the floor and storms off. As they watch him leave, Willow notices that there is no card on the flowers. Feeling helpless and ignored about her mother's death
Dawn decides to take matters into her own hands and perform a resurrection
spell. Spike finds her at the cemetery and offers to help. Dawn accuses him of only doing it to get close to Buffy and Spike threatens her, saying that Buffy is never to hear that he helped. When she pushes it further he says that he doesn't like to see the Summers women get hit so hard. Spike takes Dawn to see Doc, a man who has a reputation for knowing what to do with resurrection spells. Doc seems to think he knows Spike, only with different hair and not a vampire. Spike dismisses it as crazy talk and Doc gives Dawn the list of ingredients for the spell, including the egg of a life giving demon. Dawn and Spike leave to collect everything they need. Armed with an axe Spike and Dawn stand at the entrance to the demon's lair. Spike tells Dawn to wait while he goes inside but she refuses, saying he'll need someone to get the egg while he distracts the demon. Commenting that Dawn is a 'bitty-Buffy' the two of them enter. Spike manages to distract the demon and Dawn grabs the egg, however as they are leaving she drops it and it breaks. Spike tells her to leave it but she runs back in, he follows her. He manages to distract the demon again and Dawn grabs another egg. As they are about to leave the demon bites Spike in the waist. Seeing that Spike is hurt Dawn helps him and apologises. Spike asks if she's got the egg and when she says yes he says that in that case there is no need to be sorry. Buffy finds out what Dawn is intending to do and confronts her. True to her word she doesn't mention Spike and in the end she sabotages the spell, finally accepting that her mother is gone. While Buffy is away doing some training with Giles, Spike collects his Buffy robot. At first he complains that it looks a bit plasticy, but when it grabs and kisses him he says it will do. He takes the robot back to his crypt and as it has been programmed to do it stalks him with a stake, finally saying that it can't resist him. Pushing him down she tears open his shirt and holds a stake over his heart before saying that she wants him. They have sex, but afterwards the robot ruins the moment by asking Spike if he wants her to run the programme again. Despite appearances she just isn't Buffy. Later that night an exhausted Spike lies asleep while the robot dresses and says she's going out to slay. Leaving Spike to sleep she goes out and soon runs into Xander and Anya. They notice 'Buffy' is acting a little weird, even more so when Spike arrives and she seems glad to see him. Spike pretends it's the real Buffy and before questions can be asked they are attacked by a group of vampires. The robot immediately puts herself in front of Spike, protecting him. Once the fight is over 'Buffy' tells Xander and Anya that she and Spike will finish the patrol together. Once Xander and Anya are gone, the robot complains of feeling 'hot'. Telling Spike he'd better feel her to make sure he pulls her into his arms and they kiss. Xander comments to Anya that he thinks something is wrong. Buffy didn't mention her training with Giles and she didn't ask about Dawn. They go back, and hearing a notice, peer through the bushes to see 'Buffy' straddling a naked Spike saying. "You're the big bad." The gang attribute Buffy's behaviour to grief and Xander decides to go and confront Spike. Hearing someone approach, Spike tells the Buffybot to hide in the lower part of the crypt. Xander walks in and grabs Spike by the shirt, yelling at him for taking advantage of Buffy. Spike says he can't help it if Buffy has decided she needs him. At that point a group of Glory's minions burst in and knock Xander out. They bind Spike's hands behind his back and gag him, saying that Glory will be pleased they have the key. After a while the Buffybot emerges and sees that Spike is gone, she doesn't see Xander lying unconscious and quickly runs outside. She tells Willow that Spike is gone and they have to get him back. Willow delicately suggests that maybe she needs to see some kind of help, and asks her if she has slept with Spike. The bot replies that they haven't slept together, just had sex lots of times and in lots of different positions. She offers to draw Willow pictures when Xander arrives and says that it was Glory's minions who took Spike. The gang realise with horror that Spike knows Dawn is the key and will more than likely tell Glory. They agree that they have to get to him before he talks. Spike is dragged into Glory's apartment, his hands still tied but the gag gone. Glory asks what he is and the minions say they believe he is the key. Glory says that is impossible, the key is pure and a vampire is not. The minions explain that they saw Buffy protecting Spike and that he was precious to her. Glory starts to inspect Spike and he tells her to sod off. She punched him to a wall, pulls his lip and throws him onto her bed. Straddling him, she drives her finger into his chest, asking him what he knows. At Buffy's house, the bot continues to act strangely and the gang don't know what to say when she says they're going to rescue Spike. She goes upstairs to change and get some more weapons and the gang agree that they have to talk to her about Spike. Their plan was to kill him. At that point the real Buffy arrives home and the gang mistake her for the bot. Anya mentions that they're shocked that she is having sex with Spike. Buffy freaks and denies it. At that point the bot returns and everyone is confused save Buffy who realises immediately that it's a robot. The situation with Spike is quickly explained and Buffy says she is going to to kill him, not only to stop him talking but for building the bot too. Meanwhile, Glory now has Spike suspended from the ceiling by his wrists. She cuts into his chest with a knife and says she is going to peel him like an apple. Spike says he'll tell her who the key is. The gang arrives at the grounds surrounding Glory's apartment. The Buffybot says they have to hurry and save Spike. Buffy says they are going to kill him, he's bound to tell Glory about Dawn. They split up, Buffy and Xander, Willow and Anya and Giles and the Bot. One of Glory's minions gives Spike some water and Glory then smashes the glass in his face. She demands to know who the key is. Spike works at the chains which are holding him and tells her the key is Bob Barker from The Price is Right. Glory gets angry, more so when Spike calls her the god of bad home perms. She punches him and the force of the blow frees him from his chains. Staggering to his feet he stumbles to an elevator and uses the last of his strength to force the doors open and falls inside, landing on top of the car. He opens the trap door and falls inside. The Elevator descends and Glory's minions are waiting for Spike when it stops. At that point Buffy and the gang arrive. They fight the minions and the Buffybot is damaged during the fight. The gang win and the remaining minions retreat. Back at the shop Willow is looking at the bot. She says she knows what's wrong with it and that she can fix it, but she won't. Giles and Xander arrive and Buffy asks them what they did with Spike, hoping the story has a 'dusty ending'. Xander says they put him in his crypt, they tried to find out if he told Glory about Dawn but he was barely conscious and too badly beaten to say. Buffy says they need to know, Glory could be on her way. Spike is lying on the sarcophagus in his crypt when the Buffybot arrives. She passes comment on his 'sexy wounds' and asks Spike is he wants to ravage her. She then asks him why Glory hurt him. He says she wanted the key and the bot says she will go and tell her. Spike says no, it would destroy Buffy if anything happened to Dawn and he'd rather let Glory kill him. The bot leans down and kisses Spike gently.
With a shock he realises it's the real Buffy and asks what happened to his robot. Buffy says it's gone and that it was gross. Spike tries to explain but Buffy cuts him off saying that the bot wasn't real, but that what he did for her and Dawn was. She says she'll never forget it and leaves a stunned Spike alone in his crypt. Although he is still recovering from his wounds, Buffy asks Spike to look after Dawn. Clearly the matter of trusting him is no longer an issue. Buffy tells the gang that Dawn is safe with Spike and they accept it with no questions. Meanwhile Dawn is still struggling with her identity as the key. She tells Spike that she is evil and brings misery to everyone around her. Spike does his best to comfort her and tells her that he's seen a lot of evil in time and she isn't it. He goes on to say that he's bad, but turned out OK in the end. Buffy comes to collect Dawn and tells her and Spike that Glory has made Tara insane. Willow wanted to go after Glory but she managed to talk her out of it. Spike says that Willow will still have gone. If Glory had hurt someone he loved there'd be no question of him going after her.
Clearly this is directed at Buffy and she knows it but says nothing. Dawn points out that Buffy would go after Glory if she hurt her and Buffy runs to help Willow. Glory finds out that Dawn is the key and the gang are forced to flee. Buffy says she will find transport for them and sends everyone home to gather supplies. The gang are waiting outside when an RV pulls up. The door opens and Spike is sat behind the wheel wearing a pair of goggles to protect him from the sun. Buffy ushers everyone in and Giles orders Spike out. Buffy says that Spike is staying. Xander and Giles both argue with her and Buffy says the matter is not open for discussion, Spike is the only other person strong enough to protect Dawn. Later on Giles has taken over the driving and Spike has to sit on the floor as there are no spare seats. He complains about Giles' slow driving. Xander says he could always walk and Spike does his best to make Xander's travel sickness worse. Finally Xander moves to site with Giles and Spike takes his place, whispering to Dawn that he should have stolen a car which was just big enough for the two of them and Buffy. Tara, not aware of what she's doing, opens the curtains and burns Spike's hand. She begins to cry and he tries to soothe her. Dawn tells Buffy that things can't get any worse and at that point an arrow flies into the RV. The Knights of Byzantium, who are on a mission to destroy the key, have found them. As arrows continue to fly, Buffy tells Dawn to stay down. One of the knights climbs onto the roof and starts stabbing the roof with his sword. The first time it narrowly misses Xander, the second time it is going to hit Buffy but Spike grabs the sword before it hits, the blade slicing into his hands. Buffy climbs through the hatch onto the roof. The knight manages to pull his sword free, cutting Spike badly. Dawn bandages his hands while Buffy fights the knights. One of the knights smashes a window and tries to grab Dawn, burning Spike in the process. Anya manages to beat him off. One of the knights throws a spear at the RV which impales Giles and causes it to crash. The gang make their way to a nearby abandoned Gas Station. Willow does her best to help Giles and Buffy asks Dawn if she's alright. She says she's fine but that Spike is hurt. Buffy looks at his hands and tells Dawn they'll heal.
The knights launch another attack and one of them attacks Buffy. Spike punches him only to be zapped by the chip, the pain causing him to fall to the floor. The knight is about to kill him when Buffy attacks. Willow manages to keep the knights at bay with a spell, but Giles is in need of medical attention. Buffy makes a deal with the knights, using their captured comrade as trade. They agree to let her call someone to help Giles. She calls Ben. Ben soon arrives and does what he can for Giles, there is nothing but jealousy coming from Spike as he watches them. He struggles to light a cigarette with his injured hands and finally Xander helps him. Spike says they should be trying to get out of there, not just sit around. Xander says they wouldn't all make it and Buffy walks over to agree. They do nothing unless everyone is going to make it. She sends Spike and Xander to check for supplies and get everyone to eat. Ben morphs into Glory and grabs Dawn. Spike punches her and is swatted to one side, the same thing happens to Buffy. By the time they manage to regroup, Glory is gone and the knights are dead. Spike grabs Ben's keys and goes out to his car. Buffy sinks to her knees, she has failed Dawn and this has pushed her over the edge. Still in the gas station the gang are worried that Buffy hasn't snapped out of her catatonic state. Spike decides that the best way to bring her out of it is shock treatment. He yells at her, shakes her and eventually hits her. Nothing happens except he gets zapped by the chip.
Xander is furious at Spike and the two of them fight. Willow breaks them apart. She takes control and tells them that they're going back to Sunnydale. Xander will take Giles to the hospital, Anya will look after Tara, Spike will look for Glory and she will try and help Buffy. Spike asks what he should do if he sees Ben. The gang look puzzled. Spike realises that they can't remember that Ben and Glory share the same body. He explains but they seem to forget as soon as he's told them. After snooping around Glory's apartment Spike goes to the hospital to meet Xander and Giles. He says he found a load of Ben's stuff at Glory's but that was it. Xander looks puzzled again. In a fit of frustration Spike hits Xander, not caring that that chip zaps him. He explains again about Ben and Glory. Xander and Spike go to see Doc to ask about Glory. At first he makes out that he's helping them but when Spike notices him hiding something he attacks. Xander eventually stabs Doc with a sword and he and Spike leave with the things Doc was hiding. When they have gone Doc opens his eyes. Willow uses a spell to get inside Buffy's mind. She finds out that Buffy thinks she can't beat Glory and that it's easier to morn Dawn's death than try to save her. Willow says that Spike was write and yells at her to snap out of it. Buffy comes to and starts to cry, Willow comforts her. The information Doc was hiding says that once Glory starts the ritual using the key, the only way to close the portal is to kill Dawn. After a lot of arguing amongst the gang Buffy takes Spike to her house for more weapons. She tells him to get the ones in the living room and starts to head upstairs. Spike calls out to her and when she turns back he puts his hand up to the barrier keeping him out. He tells Buffy she can just pass the weapons over the threshold. She tells him to come in. He steps inside, trying hard not to show how much this means to him. As he goes to get weapons Buffy tells him that they're not all going to make it. Spike says he always knew he'd go down fighting. He promises Buffy he'll protect Dawn til the end of the world, even if that happens to be tonight. Buffy starts to head upstairs and Spike says that he knows she'll never love him, that he knows he's a monster, but she treats him like a man. Buffy says nothing and Spike tells her to go and get her stuff. The gang use Tara to find out where the ritual is taking place, everything is ready when they arrive. Dawn is tied up on top of a high platform. Willow attacks Glory and manages to reverse the brain suck on Tara, they are both knocked unconscious but when they wake Tara is back to normal. Glory attacks Buffy and kicks her head off, it's the Buffybot. While Glory looks puzzled Buffy attacks her from behind. Dawn calls out to Buffy and she begings to climb the platform. Glory follows and as they fight the two of them fall back to the ground. Dawn looks up to see Doc approaching, she asks for his help and he pulls out a knife. Spike senses someone is up on the platform with Dawn. All of Glory's minions protect the stairway, blocking his path. From the other side of the site Willow communicates telepathically with Spike. She tells him to go and help Dawn and she uses a spell to push the minions aside. Spike climbs the platform and is confronted by Doc. Doc says he can't smell a soul in Spike and asks him why he' protecting Dawn. Spike says he promised a lady. Doc stabs Spike in the back and they scuffle, Doc trips Spike up and grabs him. He turns Spike to face Dawn and says he'll give his comisserations to the lady. With a look of pain and fear Spike knows he's failed. Doc throws him off the platform where he falls a long way and lands on a pile of bricks. Buffy brutally beats Glory but stops when she morphs into Ben. She tells him to leave and never come back before going to help Dawn. Giles kneels at Ben's side. Ben is amazed that Buffy didn't kill him. Giles says she's a true hero and would never take a human life, he then suffocates Ben. Doc cuts Dawn several times and her blood runs down her legs and drips onto the platform, she is screaming in pain and fear. Buffy arrives and pushes Doc off the platform. She unties Dawn but it's too late. A portal opens and all manner of monsters emerge. Spike regains consciousness and manages to roll away as the ground cracks beneath him. Anya pushes Xander to one side and is buried by some rubble. Dawn tells Buffy that she has to jump in order to close the portal. Buffy won't let her. Buffy has a flashback to the scene in Blood Ties where she tells Dawn their blood is the same because they are sisters. She then whispers something to Dawn and then jumps off the platform herself. As Buffy falls the gang regroup and we hear what Buffy said to Dawn. "I love you. I will always love you. Tell Giles I figured it out and I'm okay. Give my love to my friends. You have to take care of them now. You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Be brave. Live. For me." We see them all walk towards something, it is Buffy's body. Spike collapses and begins to sob.
The other cry as well, except for Xander who seems to be in shock. The final shot is of Buffy's gravestone.
