[ For those of you that haven't read Brazil, this is a quick recap of what happened: after "Lovers Walk" Spike goes back to Brazil. He finds Drusilla. They fight, then make love. ]

******

Now that they were together again, Spike felt more in love with Drusilla then ever. They travelled along the coastline, from Recife to Sao Paulo, sampling all the exotic flavours they could find. They ran into foreign demons and other vampires. Most of the time they ignored each other, but sometimes it would come to a confrontation. Spike and Dru could handle themselves and killed most of them. However, this was unknown territory for them and more then once they were forced to flee. It was better to leave the big cities and move inland again. Dru had heard about a powerful shaman, who was rumoured to live with his clan in the rainforest. The stories said he was at least 500 years old, if not older. She was completely fascinated by the idea and was determent to meet him. Spike couldn't refuse her anything, so they set out to find this mysterious clan.

The only problem was the scarce population. They could feed off the animals they encountered, but it was still a poor substitute for human blood. Spike was already getting frustrated, when they finally had a lucky break. They came across a group of scientists, who had set up a camp to do research. They killed most of them the first night and locked the others up for supply.

* * * * *

"I'm tired of all this searching. What's so special about this voodoo guy anyway?"

Spike kicked the bedpost to get Drusilla's attention. They had settled themselves in the main house. It wasn't much, just a living room with a build-in kitchen and a small bedroom. They had been there three nights already, roaming the forest and feeding off the scientists and their assistants.

"He's not like anything we've seen before. I can feel it."

Dru sat up on the bed and took his hands in hers. Spike pulled himself loose. He wasn't in the mood right now.

"There's lots of stuff we haven't seen yet. I'm sick of this country!"

His irritation had been building ever since he had woken up. He picked up a chair and threw it against the wall, hoping it would make him feel better. Dru pulled her legs up and started whimpering. Spike immediately felt the anger flow out off him and went over to the bed. He put his arms around her.

"I'm sorry, love. It's just that we've been messing about here for too long. We need a change. Something exciting."

Dru immediately looked up and gave him a little smile. Spike smiled back with relief. He hated it when they argued.

"Come on. Lets get something to eat."

Spike pulled Dru up from the bed and together they went over to the hut that they were using as a prison. It wasn't as much fun as a good chase, but at least they had human blood. Once inside, Spike grabbed one of the few remaining scientists. By his accent Spike knew he was a fellow Brit.

"How about a taste of home then?"

When he got no responds, Spike looked around and saw that Dru's attention was focused on something else.

"I want this one."

Dru was holding up a young girl. She looked like a native, hair long and dark like Dru's. Funny how he hadn't really noticed her before.

"Whatever you want, my love."

Spike dropped the Brit. and together they went back to the house, dragging the girl behind them. Back inside, Dru untied the girl's hands and removed her gag. She let her fingers move gently over the girl's cheek.

"Don't be afraid, this wont hurt a bit."

She shifted to her vamp face and leaned in. Spike could hear her fangs penetrate the girl's neck and could smell the blood.

He stood back with his arms crossed. Seeing Dru kill was almost as good as doing it himself. The young girl looked up at him. It wasn't the bewilderment, or terror that he was so used to seeing in the eyes of those mortals who are about to die. It looked more like she was loving it, relishing the moment. It send a chill through his already cold body. Her gaze was fixed on him and he couldn't look away. Even when, after what seemed like hours, Drusilla finally stopped, it was almost like she was still looking at him.

Drusilla laid the now lifeless body on the bed. Spike was still standing transfixed in the corner, trying the get rid of the feelings of dread in his head. He felt removed from reality. He could only stare as Dru bent down to kiss her. He saw a small trail of blood come down the girl's cheek and to his horror he realised what was going on. Dru had bitten her own tongue and was letting her blood flow into the mouth of the dead girl.

Spike wanted to scream or move, but somehow couldn't.

After a few seconds the girl's hands started to move. They went up to Drusilla's head and intertwined with her long hair. She began kissing Dru back, pulling herself up to suck the blood. Finally Spike broke trough the spell that was holding him. He ran up to the bed and yanked Drusilla off the girl.

"What's the matter with you!"

"You said I could do what ever I want."

Drusilla revered back to her oh so beautiful human face and stared up at him with a look of total innocence.

"Yeah well, I didn't mean you could make her a bleeding vampire! Are you out off your mind?"

The girl sat up on the bed and slipped one of her arms around Dru's waist, while she continued licking the last drops of Drusilla's blood off her lips.

"This is Rosana and she is a very nice girl. I like her."

Spike was pacing up and down the room in frustration. He looked up at the girl and saw that same terrifying look in her eyes. Then the girl spoke in a soft, vibrating voice.

"Come on Spike, don't be a spoil sport"

It was the first time he had actually heard her speak.

"How do you know my name?"

"Drusilla just told me."

"She did no such thing."

"Yes she did."

She looked at Drusilla and smiled. Dru began to laugh out loud and got off the bed to go over to Spike. She threw her arms around his neck.

"Come on Spike, it will be so much fun together!"

Somehow Spike had his doubts. But before he could utter a word, Dru kissed him on the mouth. She pressed her body against his and kept on kissing. Spike didn't know how to respond. He knew feeding turned Dru on, but this was just getting too weird.

Rosana was still on the bed staring at them. Slowly she got up and walked out off the room. He thought he felt the room temperature actually drop a few points. Meanwhile Dru was still pulling him towards the bed. He tried to resist.

"Hold on, Dru. Let's talk about this first."

"Hmmmm, don't talk. Make love to me." Dru yearned with a longing voice and kept on pulling him.

Spike felt his objections becoming less focused and a strange calm came over him. He let Drusilla lead him to the bed and start undressing him. He felt desire enter his body, yet something was off. But Drusilla wouldn't have no for an answer.

"Come on, I promise I will make you scream."

She had that seductive tone in her voice she knew drove him mad. All the warning bells seemed to die down as he let Dru manipulate him like she wanted to. They made love like they always did. Spike was finally feeling that the world was right again and that nothing mattered except him and Dru, together. He opened his eyes to look at her.

He froze and felt as if the room around them disappeared as he looked right into the face of Rosana. Drusilla was gone and she was lying there naked on the bed next to him.

He jumped up.

"What the hell is going on here?"

He could hardly control his voice.

"Where's Drusilla? What did you do with her?"

He grabbed the girl's hair and pulled her up.

"Talk to me before I rip your head off your shoulders."

Rosana just smiled. He threw her across the room into the wall. She fell to the ground and started laughing.

"She's right here you silly."

Spike looked around and to his shock saw Drusilla lying right there on the bed where Rosana had been a few seconds ago. He looked back at Rosana, only to see that now she had disappeared. He went over to Drusilla. She opened her eyes. She moaned as if she was just waking up and raised her hands to stoke his chest. He grabbed her arms to stop her.

"Dru! Something is very, very wrong here."

Dru looked up at him quizzically.

"That girl Rosana you picked, she's doing some kind of freaking magic."

Dru's eyes gleamed with recognition.

"My little Rose, she speaks to me."

"Well that's bloody marvellous! I'm telling you Dru, that girl is trouble. We're leaving right now."

He gathered his clothes and started dressing. Drusilla still hadn't moved.

"Come on!"

She still didn't respond.

"Fine, whatever."

He pulled the bed sheet off the bed and wrapped her in it. He dragged her into the living room and began packing some stuff.

"I'm leaving and you're coming with me."

"Why such hurry? The party is just getting started."

A male voice had come from the doorway. Spike turned to face it. In the doorway stood a small, frail man. His skin was dark and his eyes were piercing black. It was almost like they could suck you in, like two small black holes. Spike was speechless. The man continued.

"It is so nice of you to come, I don't get a lot of visitors."

Spike tried to close his eyes, or look away. For some reason he breathed in and then forced himself to speak.

"Look man, we were just leaving, alright. We don't want any trouble."

Behind the man appeared Rosana. She kissed the old man on the forehead and then continued sliding toward Drusilla. Spike's instinct to protect his lover took over and he stepped between them.

"Back off, bitch."

Rosana looked back and forth between Spike, Drusilla and the old man before she finally turned back to Spike.

"She belongs with us now. She left you when she chose to come here. I heard her calling in my head and answered her. We are one now."

Rosana looked past him and held out her hand towards Drusilla. Spike felt Dru behind him start to move. He turned around and seized Dru's arm to stop her. Her eyes were fixed on Rosana. He looked back at the man in the doorway. All the fear that had paralysed him before was gone now.

"I don't care who the fuck you are, but Dru comes with me and that's it. Now call off your little bitch here and let us leave and I promise you won't get hurt."

The man broke out in laughter. Spike shoved Rosana aside and made his way to the door, dragging Dru behind him. The man stopped laughing and looked at him again with those piercing eyes. He held out his hand. Spike felt as if he was hit by some kind of forcefield. The anger in him grew. Rosana had gotten up and moved in on Drusilla. Thoughts raced trough his head. Clearly these creatures, whatever they really were, could do some powerful magic. If only he could make Drusilla come to her senses he wouldn't be alone against these two. He closed his eyes and tried to focus. All of a sudden something hit him. It was a small chance, but he was willing to try anything right now.

He looked up and saw that Rosana was holding on to Dru's other arm. With his free hand Spike struck Rosana full in face with all the strength he had and at the same time he moved his other hand over Dru's face, covering her eyes. Rosanna crashed into the floor and lay still. Spike blessed himself that at least the newly made vampire didn't appear to be physically very strong.

"Spike!"

The man called out for him, but he didn't turn around this time. He ripped a small piece of the bed sheet that was still hanging loosely around Dru's shoulder and tied it around Dru's face like a blindfold.

"Dru! Listen to me! Come back to me."

Spike shook her head between his hands.

"Dru, do you hear me?"

Drusilla fell down to the ground and began moaning.

"Rose?? Where's my Rose?"

This wasn't what he had hoped for. Somehow this girl still had some sort of influence over his loved one. He picked Dru up and moved back into the bedroom. He heard the old man follow him.

"Spike! I wouldn't do that if I were you. You have no idea what you're dealing with."

Spike forced himself not to look back and went on into the bedroom.

"You're just some old guy with a few stupid magic tricks!"

He lay Dru on the bed and grabbed a piece of the smashed chair off the floor. He turned around to go back, but stopped when he saw the man block his way back.

"I have been here longer then you can imagine."

"Oh shut up."

Spike held up the piece of wood like a stake, making sure to concentrate on the man's chest. He had no idea how to kill it, or even how to hurt it. He thought he could detect the smell of human blood from the old man, but that in itself didn't proof anything. He knew of several demon species that ingested human blood for one reason or another. The Rosana girl must have been human. Drusilla should have tasted it otherwise. He was pulled from his concentration by the man's voice.

"You think you can kill me with that?"

"I just might."

"I'm not a vampire, you can't kill me."

There was only one way to find out. Spike cried out and launched himself forward. He plunged the stake in the man's chest, hoping to do at least some kind of damage. The old man winced as Spike pulled the stake back out and pushed him aside. Without stopping to check the effect of his action, Spike hurried into the living room. Rosana was already on her feat again. They faced each other. Again Spike forced himself to look at her chest and not into her eyes. He held the stake high. Rosana didn't move, but only spoke.

"You're a fool. Go while you still can."

Spike had no idea about the state of the old man behind him and had no time for more of these meaningless statements.

"Maybe I am, but you shouldn't have messed with my baby"

With one powerful throw, the stake flew through the air, straight into Rosana's heart. She let out a small groan before exploding into a cloud of dust.

"One down, one to …"

Before Spike could even finish his though, he heard another cry come from the bedroom. Spike ran back, praying Dru was all right. He came into the bedroom and saw the old man leaning over the bed. He was trying to remove her blindfold. Before Spike could cry out to Drusilla to be careful, she suddenly sat up and grabbed the guy's neck with both hands. She made a small, but precise twisting motion. Spike heard a snap and saw the man fall down and slide off the bed onto the floor. Spike jumped into the bed. He put his hands around Dru's face and slowly removed the piece of bed linen.

"Dru?"

"That was a very bad man."

"He certainly was, love."

He put his arms around her shoulders and pulled her near. He felt like he never wanted to let go.

"Hmmm, Spike."

Dru's hands moved to his back and started pulling up his T-shirt. Right now he didn't care about anything anymore. He kissed her neck and began making his way down.

"Now that wasn't a very nice thing to do."

They froze.

Spike looked up and saw the old man standing next to the bed massaging his neck as if he had just pulled a muscle.

"Don't look!" Spike shouted at Dru as he jumped off the bed.

He kicked the old man in the chest. The man stumbled backward into the wall. Drusilla had gotten off the bed as well and picked up another piece of chair from the floor. She hit the man over the head. He fell down while she kept on hitting him and hitting him.

"That's enough, love. Lets go."

Spike had enough of this. They may not be able to kill this guy, but at least that would give them some time. He grabbed Drusilla and together they started running. They ran out off the house and into the woods. They kept on running until it was almost time for sunrise. The trees provided a thick covering, but he didn't like taking changes. So they searched for a place to hide from the day. Once they had settled in a perfect spot, he took Dru's hand. He hadn't heard or felt anyone follow them. As if she could read his thoughts, Dru whispered.

"He's not here anymore"

"Is he dead?"

"No. He never will be, but he's not here."

Spike gave a sigh of relief. He didn't like this guy. Dru's fingers were playing with his hair.

"Take me somewhere else."

"I thought you'd never ask, love."

Spike smiled as he felt the warmth of the upcoming sun. Dru closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. He stared at her a few minutes and then closed his own eyes. This is how it should be. Tomorrow they would leave Brazil for good.

******

Back at the house the old man pulled himself up and stretched his legs. He walked back into the living room. A little breeze went through the house and swept up the pile of dust on the floor. The dust swirled up and began to regroup and shape itself. Before the man's eyes Rosana's form reappeared. She dusted herself off and took a couple of uncertain steps towards him.

"That was such a ride!"

The old man held out his hands for her and just smiled.
